WBA (Super), IBO and WBC Interim middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin will have his next fight in the USA, Tengrinews reports citing Vesti.kz.
According to Golovkin’s promoter Tom Loeffler, the Kazakhstani boxer is returing to the USA in May in June.
“[Gennady] always likes to stay active and be on an active schedule. So we would be looking at coming back in the United States, if everything goes the right way in Monte Carlo, coming back as soon as possible in either May or June,” Loeffler told Boxing Scene.
In 2015 Golovkin plans to have four fights. In Monte Carlo Golovkin will defend his titles against a British boxer Martin Murray. The fight on February 21st marks Golovkin’s 32nd fight in the professional ring.
After winning Marco Antonio Rubio, Golovkin earned a WBC interim title. This makes him a compulsory contender for the full WBC middleweight title held by the Puerto Rican boxer Miguel Cotto.
Meanwhile, Golovkin is preparing for his February fight.
