Golovkin shows 76.7 kg for WBC 30 Day pre-weight in

WBA (Super), IBO and WBC (Interim) middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (32-0, 29 КО) of Kazakhstan has passed the WBC 30 days pre-weigh in, Tengrinews reports citing Vesti.kz.

Golovkin showed 169 lbs (76.7 kg), which is lower than WBC mandated 176 lbs (79.8 kg).

Triple G is facing the southpaw Willie Monroe Jr. (19-1, 6 KO), on May 16 at The Forum in Los Angeles. The fight opens on May 17 at 8:00 am by the Astana time.

Boxingnewsonline observed Golovkin’s potential to join the middleweight icons Carlos Monzon (87-3-9, 59 KOs), Marvin Hagler (62-3-2, 52 KOs) and Bernard Hopkins (55-7-2, 32 KOs) thanks to his patience, brutal power and aggressive boxing style. If Golovkin wins his 33rd fight in the professional ring, he will repeat Monzon’s record of successfully defended middleweight titles.
