The WBA (Super), IBO and WBC (Interim) middleweight champion is currently preparing for a fight against Martin Murray. The Golovkin-Murray fight is scheduled to February 21 in Monte Carlo, Monaco.
“I am focused on the preparation for the fight against the holder of the WBC Silver belt Martin Murray on February 21. A fight against Canelo is certainly possible in the future. It would be a gift for boxing fans,” Golovkin said.
Earlier, Golovkin travelled to Mexico, where he held a WBC press conference, visited Legaria Children Hospital and had a tour on a private helicopter with the Mexican Minister of Tourism.

On December 10, the WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman handed the WBC Interim middleweight title to Gennady Golovkin. The undefeated boxer defended his WBA and IBO titles and won the WBC (Interim) in a fight against the Mexican boxer Marco Antonio Rubio. Sergio Martinez, the former Lineal, The Ring, and WBC middleweight champion congratulated Golovkin on the WBC belt using Twitter.
