Kazakhstan boxer Gennady Golovkin will have a chance to hold both WBA (World Boxing Association) and WBO (World Boxing Organization) champion belts in autumn 2012, Tengrinews.kz reports, referring to Sportbox.ru. Golovkin, who is the current WBA world champion, will have to fight against Russian Dmitry Pirog to get both belts. According to Tom Leffler, Kazakhstan boxer official promoter, this possibility is being considered at present. “This match might become a very interesting one. It would be good if the fight took place in New York, because there are many immigrants from the former soviet space there. We have already discussed this match with Arty Pelulu, Dmitry’s American promoter. His is quite interested in this match. However this fight will make sense only if TV channels would want to buy broadcasting rights. We are ready to sign a contract for a united fight or two single fights, where the boxers will challenge each others champion titles one after another,” Leffler said. Golovkin is planning to fight against German boxer Felix Sturm, the WBA's current super champion in the nearest future. It is expected that the fight will take place on September 30.
