The Boxing Writers Association of America (BWAA) has named the best fighter of 2014, Tegrinews reports citing Vesti.kz.

The Boxing Writers Association of America (BWAA) has named the best fighter of 2014, Tegrinews reports citing Vesti.kz.

The undefeated lightweight WBA champion Terence Crawford (25-0, 17 KO) was named the 2014 Fighter of The Year. In 2014, Crawford had three fights against Ricky Burns (the UK), Yuriorkis Gamboa (Cuba) and Raymundo Beltran (Mexico).

Kazakhstani WBA Super, IBO and WBC Interim middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin, WBA (Super), WBO and IBF light heavyweight Sergey Kovalev, Manny Pacquiao and WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto, too, were nominated for the Fighter of The Year.

Earlier, Golovkin was named the boxer of the year according to Yahoo Sports. Manny Pacquiao, Miguel Cotto, Terence Crawford, Roman Gonzalez and Naoya Inoue were nominated too.
