Kazakhstani boxer Gennady Golovkin has been named one of the Top 5 boxers in pound per pound, Tengrinews reports citing Vesti.kz.
The WBA (Super), IBO and WBC (Interim) middleweight champion landed on the fifth place of the Boxingnews24.com rating.
Floyd Mayweather Jr remains the best pound per pound boxer according to the boxing online portal. Vladimir Klichko took the second place in the rating while Cuban boxer Guillermo Rigondeaux came in third. Philipino Manny Pacquiao is in the fourth place.
Kazakhstani unbeaten boxer has had 31 fights with 28 of them ending in a KO. There have been 13 title defence fights.
“I am convinced this guy will be top three for a long time in terms of pound for pound and pay per view buys, live gates etc. We have seen Rubio go 12 rounds with Chavez Jr. We have seen Geale go 12 with Barker and Sturm. We have seen Macklin go 11 with Martinez and 12 with Sturm and we have seen Ishida KO James Kirkland in 1 round and go the distance with Paul Williams. Golovkin brutally knocked out all of the aforementioned men in brutal fashion. This man is for real. I would bet on him to beat Cotto, Alvarez, Quillin, Martinez, Jacobs, Chavez Jr, Abraham or mostly any other man between 154-168lbs,” James Sexton wrote for Boxingnews24.com.
In addition, the portal included Golovkin in the Top 10 boxers in 2014. Golovkin also could win the Boxer of the Year according to Bleacher Report.
