The Middleweight champion in WBA and IBO Gennady Golovkin (29-0, 26 KOs) will most probably fight against former titleholder from Australia Daniel Geale (30-2, 16 KOs) on July 26 at Madison Square Garden in New York, Tengrinews reports citing Vesti.kz.
Earlier, Golovkin’s promoter Tom Loeffler sent a request to WBA asking to postpone the defense of the title against another Australian Jarrod Fletcher (18-1, 10 KOs). Golovkin-Geale fight will happen only in case Golovkin gets an exception to his mandatory fight to defend his WBA title.
For now GGG's promoter consideres Geal to be the biggest name available to fight. Even though Golovkin-Chavez fight will not happen this summer, Loeffler does not rule out this possibility in future.
