Golovkin congratulated Sapiyev on Olympic gold

Kazakhstan’s boxer Gennady Golovkin, WBA (World Boxing Association) world middleweight champion, has congratulated Serik Sapiyev on the Summer London Olympic Games gold medal, Tengrinews.kz reports, citing Boxingnews24.com Golovkin who is currently training in his training camp in California was closely watching the fights of the Kazakhstan national boxing team (that won one gold, one silver and two bronze medals) at the Olympics. “In my opinion it is a special time for these boxers now. I will continue to keep an eye on their career, both in professional and amateur boxing,” the WBA champion said. At present Golovkin is getting prepared to defend his title in a fight against Poland’s Grzegorz Proxy (who is ranked third in the WBA rating) that will be held on September 1 in New York. Serik Sapiyev won an Olympic gold medal in the welterweight division, Adilbek Niyazimbetov won silver in the light heavyweight division, and Marina Volnova got bronze in the women’s middle weight division and Ivan Dychko got bronze in the super heavy weight division.
