Undefeated Kazakhstani professional boxer Gennady Golovkin (30-0, 27 KOs ) was very serious about his preparations for the victorious July 27 fight against Australian Daniel Geale (32-3, 16 KOs). While defending his title at Madison Square Garden Golovkin TKO Geale in the 3rd round.

Even though Geale could not boast a knock-out rate matching Golovkin - Golovkin’s KO record stands at 90% - he still ended 50% of his fights with knockouts, and the Kazakhstani boxer took the 33 y.o. Australian boxer very seriously viewing him as a tough opponent. He did not underestimate his opponent who had been on the top in his weight category for years.

Sons of Julian Jackson (55-6, 49 KOs) professional middleweight boxer John Jackson (18-2, 15 KOs) and his brother Julius Jackson (17-0, 13 KOs) from Virgin Islands, former Commonwealth and British titleholder in the super middleweight division George Groves (19-2, 15 KOs) and London Olympic Champion Ryota Murata (4-0, 4 KOs) from Japan helped Golovkin prepare for the fight as sparing partners in a 10 day training camp in the United States.

Murata signed a contract with Top Rank in 2013 to organize his fights outside Japan. Bob Arum of Top Rank even predicted that Murata-Golovkin fight could take place sometime soon.
