Kazakhstani undefeated boxer Gennady Golovkin received WBN Fighter of the Year 2013 award, Tengrinews reports citing Vesti.kz.
WBA (Super) and IBO middleweight champion got 74% votes on the World Boxing News website, leaving his closest rival Adonis Stevenson behind with 12% votes.
In 2013, Golovkin defeated his title four timesЖ against American Gabriel Rosado, Japanese Nabuhiro Ishida, British Matthew Macklin and Curtis Stevens from the States. None of Golovkin’s fights reached the final round. GGG concluded the year with 28 fights and 28 wins (25KOs). After the most recent fight, Golovkin has the highest KO rating among middleweight boxers – 90%.
On July 27, undefeated Golovkin TKOed Daniel Geale from Australia in the 3rd round.
Earlier, the World Boxing Association named Golovkin the Fighter of the Month.
