World Boxing Champions from Kazakhstan
Kazakhstan’s team secured historic victories at the tournament in Liverpool. Sanjar Tashkenbay won the first gold in the men’s 50 kg category. Mahmoud Sabyrkhan followed with another gold in the 55 kg category.
Alua Balkibekova claimed gold in the women’s 51 kg category, defeating a highly ranked Turkish opponent. Aida Abikeeva added to Kazakhstan’s tally with gold in the 65 kg category, while 19-year-old Törehan Sabyrkhan won his debut world title.
In the final, Kazakhstan’s Natalia Bogdanova secured a gold in the women’s 70 kg category, ensuring the team’s first-place finish in the medal count.
The final victory for Kazakhstan came when Aybek Oralbay defeated Jahongir Zokirov from Uzbekistan in the general category, bringing home the seventh gold, which became the decisive one.
The tournament also saw Kazakhstan’s representatives earning bronze medals: Victoria Gracheva (60 kg) and Yeldana Talipova (over 80 kg). Nazym Kyzaybay claimed silver, marking her fifth career medal at World Championships.
Kazakhstan finished first in the medal tally, marking an unprecedented achievement at the World Boxing Championship.
