The father of the best pound-for-pound boxer Floyd Mayweather commented on the fight against the undefeated middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin of Kazakhstan, Tengrinews reports citing ProBoxingInsider.com.
“I would say something about this GGG. GGG, hey, if GGG can make weight, that would be different, but -- no, no, we not fixin' to fight no damn giant. I'm gonna tell you like this right here. He comes down, he be at 154, by the time he eats and fight that night, maybe 180, you just don't know, man,” SB Nation cites Floyd Mayweather Sr.
While Mayweather reigns in the welterweight (-69 kg), Golovkin competes in the middleweight (72.5 kg) division. Earlier, the undefeated American boxer said that he would fight his final fight in September.
“Now they say that Floyd won't beat him, but I'm just telling you because, the guy is probably just so big and strong, man. Floyd probably, all he would be doing is, he'd take a lot of punches. He'd come in, Floyd would run the stuff off of him. But the whole thing is, it'd be a struggle, but Floyd probably could beat him. I can't say that he can't beat him,” Mayweather Sr continued.
Mayweather Jr. told Showtime’s Jim Gray that he would not fight Manny Pacquiao again despite his earlier statement. “I change my mind. At this particular time, no, because he's a sore loser and he's a coward. (…) If you lost, accept the loss and say, `Mayweather, you were the better fighter'," the boxer said.
“Freddie Roach, I love you. Keep up the good work," Mayweather added referring to Pacquiao’s coach.
