The fishing ban is going to remain in effect during the period of spawning in Almaty oblast, Tengrinews.kz reports, citing Almaz Assylbekov, Fishery Committee's aquatic bio-resources division expert. Fishing is prohibited in the western part of Balkhash Lake from May 1 to June 1 and in the eastern part of Balkhash Lake from May 10 till June 10. Fishing at the Ili River is prohibited from April 5 till June 5. “It is forbidden to fish at Alakol Lake from April 10 till June 1, at Sassykkol Lake from April 25 till June 1,” the expert said. Fishing at Zhalanashkol Lake is banned all year long. The ban applies to sports finish same as to commercial fishing. Individuals violating fishing rules will be subject to fines ranging from $10 to $30, whereas fines for legal entities range from $200 to $500.
