Fearless Kazakhstani boxer Gennady Golovkin has been named one of the best unbeaten boxers in the world, Tengrinews reports citing Vesti.kz.
Bleacher Report put together a ranking of the 12 Best Undefeated Fighters in Boxing Today. Golovkin (31-0, 28 KOs) took the 5th place. Floyd Mayweather Jr. with a record of 47-0 tops the rating. Mayweather is followed by Andre Ward (27-0, 14 KOs). Roman Gonzalez (40-0, 34 KOs) landed on the 3rd place.
Golovkin last defended his WBA (Super) and IBO titles as well as won WBC (interim) title on October 18 in a fight against a Mexican boxer Marco Antonio Rubio in Carson, California. After a series of uppercuts, Golovkin sent Rubio to the canvas with a powerful left hook in the second round. The victory did not only land Golovkin with a new title, but also with his biggest pay – around one million dollars.
The undefeated Karaganda native has a 90.3% KO ratio. Since 2008, Golovkin has not let any of his opponents hear the sound of the last ring gong.
His next fight is scheduled to February 2015. He will most probably face Martin Murray in Monaco. Golovkin plans to have four fights in 2015.
