Roman Kreuziger will lead Astana cycling team in the marathon cycling race Giro d’Italia 2012, Tengrinews.kz reports. “It was not an easy task to choose these nine cyclists. Shefer, Sedoun and I waited until the last possible moment to better evaluate the performance of each rider. We have chosen those cyclists because they have got the best skills for assisting Roman Kreuziger in achieving the best result. We have selected a really well-consolidated squad that will be aiming above all for the general classification. We expect them to perform well in the stages,” team Manager Giuseppe Martinelli commented on the selection. Alexandr Shefer, team’s Sport Director, said the same: “We have combined our riders’ skills really well, and that means we’ve got a team that is ready for every stage, whether it is mountains or plains.” 13 cyclists will ride for Astana in Giro d’Italia race. They are: - Alexandre Vinokourov and Alexandr Dyachenko (Kazakhstan), - Evgeniy Petrov (Russia), - Enrico Gasparotto, Francesko Gavazzi, Jacopo Guarnieri, Simone Ponzi, Paolo Tiralongo (Italy), - Tanel Kangert, (Estonia), - Fredrik Kessiakoff (Sweden), - Roman Kreuziger (Czech Republic), - Robert Kiserlovski (Croatia), - Kevin Seeldraeyers (Belgium).
