A Dutch company has offered their assistance in production of a film about famous Kazakhstan cyclist Alexandr Vinokourov, movie producer Peter Berman told Tengrinews. The film is expected to be made this year. It tells the story of the famous athlete starting from his birth in Bishkol village of North Kazakhstan Oblast. According to Berman, who is also the film's script writer, the old women who was helping Alexandr's mother deliver him was the first person to see the potential in him. "I don't know what this boy is going to become, but he will bring a great fame to our nation," she said when she saw him born. Further the film will show a young coach noticing the boy. This coach then trained him to become a champion. Then the movie will show the cyclist's first big victory and his performances for the USSR national team. The film will have a place for the doping scandal that got the cyclist disqualified. According to the script, the banned substances got into his blood through painkillers that were prescribed by doctors after he had an injury during one of the stages of Tour de France. The film will culminate in the Summer London Olympics, where Vinokourov won the gold medal. According to Berman, the negotiation with the Dutch company is in progress, the Ministry of Culture and Information of Kazakhstan is also involved in the negotiation process. The producer admits that Kazakhstan needs European participants as investors for the project in the first place. Earlier, Peter Berman told about shootings an Olympians series, with Alexandr Vinokourov (Kazakhstan cyclist), Serik Sapiyev (Kazakhstan boxer) and Ilya Ilyin (Kazakhstan weightlifter) being the main characters. The film about Vinokourov is partially based on the series script. By Dmitry Khegai
