Cross-country skiing: Alexey Poltoranin from Kazakhstan dominates Muonio lanes

Kazakhstan skier Alexey Poltoranin, a three time winner of the World Cup, has won the 10 kilometer sprint in Muonio, Finland, Vesti.kz reports. Alexey Poltoranin reached the finish line in 24:33.7 leaving behind the Olympic silver medalist Czech skier Lukáš Bauer and a young German skier Hannes Dotzler. The Czech veteran took the second place with 24:40.5. Dotzler came third with 24:57.9. The day before, Poltoranin dominated the race in classic sprint where he broke away from Finnish Ari Luusua and Russian Anatoli Volkov. The World Cup preliminaries in Ski Jumping, Cross Country and Nordic Combined competition will take place in Kuusamo, Finland. The competition is considered one of the biggest events in winter sports with 400 participants from 30 countries. Poltoranin, 26, is a professional skier from Kazakhstan. He has three world cup wins, one in 2010 and two in 2013. In the 2013 World Championship in Val di Fiemme he got two bronze medals. Most of his best results are in classic skiing.
