Tengrinews.kz – Brazilian MMA journalist Igor Serafini has expressed admiration for the flag of Kazakhstan, calling it one of the most beautiful in the world after researching Kazakh UFC fighter Shavkat Rakhmonov.
“I’m editing a video about Shavkat Rakhmonov tonight and realized: Kazakhstan’s flag is a work of art - one of the most beautiful in the world, if not the most beautiful. Incredible,” Serafini wrote on social media.
Rakhmonov, who is currently ranked third in the UFC welterweight division, often walks into the octagon draped in the Kazakh flag. He remains the only fighter from Kazakhstan to be officially offered a title shot in the UFC.
A symbol of sky, power, and heritage
Kazakhstan’s flag, adopted in 1992, features a sky-blue background symbolizing peace and unity. At its center is a golden sun with 32 rays, beneath which a soaring steppe eagle (berkut) represents freedom and strength. Along the hoist side, a national ornamental pattern adds a distinctive cultural element.
Thanks to Rakhmonov’s growing global presence, Kazakhstan’s flag is gaining recognition not only in the MMA world—but also among international observers.
