Kazakhstan boxer Gennady Golovkin has been tagged the best WBA boxer of the month in March, Vesti.kz reports.
The WBA and IBO champion achieved this title thanks to his impressive KO victory over Japanese Nobuhiro Ishida. On March 31 Golovkin knocked out his opponent in the third round with one massive right-hand blow in Monte-Carlo.
This is the second time WBA tags Golovkin (26-0, 23 KO’s) the boxer of the month this year. The previous time was in January after Golovkin won over Gabriel Rosado by technical knock-out in the seventh round.
Golovkin will have his next fight in New York on June 29 against British Matthew Macklin (29-4).
