Kazakhstan boxer and winner of the 2012 London Olympic Games Serik Sapiyev was appointed Sports director of Kazakhstan Boxing Federation, Vesti.kz reports, referring to Astana Sport.ru.
General supervision of development of Kazakhstan boxing will become one of his responsibilities. “I know this sport inside out and as you all know I have been engaged in boxing for a long period of time. At present I am learning a lot of new things and gaining new experience. I think that I will be able to serve our Kazakhstan boxing Federation well by working for it. I will do my best.”
The prominent Kazakhstan athlete thanked Timur Kulibayev, president of the Federation, for the opportunity to realize his potential at the post and to work for the good of Kazakhstan boxing. He also said that he hoped to justify his confidence.
This new appointment involves changing cities for the athlete. The headquarters of Kazakhstan Boxing Federation is situated in Astana. The Olympic champion arrived to Astana alone for the time being, saying that his family was not ready to move and would be staying in Karaganda for some time.
The Sapiyev's second daughter was born shortly before the New Year.
