Dmitry Pirog, one of the best WBO middleweight boxer wants to be in the ring on March 2, 2013, Gazeta.ru reports. But the boxer’s representatives have not chosen his rival yet. Some experts believe that Kazakhstan’s Gennady Golovkin could be the best choice for Pirog in the next bout. Their match was scheduled for August 25, 2012. But it was cancelled because Pirog got an injuring during one of his training session. Now Pirog needs a serious fight and WBA and IBO champion Gennady Golovkin of Kazakhstan is generally considered a favorite for this bout. Earlier Nikolay Baklanov, Vice President of the boxer’s promotion company, said that they were ready to accept Golovkin’s proposal. “Dima (Dmitry Pirog) is going to continue his career and he still wants to fight against Gennady Golovkin. And I hope that this fight will take place,” Baklanov said. Tom Loeffler, K2 executive director and Golovkin’s promoter, said: “As far as I know, Pirog has already rehabilitated after his injury. We’d like to consider him as Golovkin’s next rival. Pirog's fight has been already aired by HBO Channel and he won over Danny Jeycobs, so we are definitely ready to consider him as the most favorite candidate against Golovkin.” “There is a long list of possible middleweight rivals for Golovkin. There are Peter Quillin, Geale. A bout against Martinez would be ideal. But there are lots of excellent candidates and it won’t be difficult to arrange a nice fight for Golovkin,” Tom Loeffler said.
