The undefeated Kazakh boxer KOed Munoz in the end of the fifth round. After this fight, Islam’s KO rating rose to 83%. It seems, the light middleweight boxer is getting closer in this regard to his famous countryman Gennady Golovkin who currently has the staggering 90% KO ratio.
The 18th fight brought Islam up in the WBA rating and closer to a title fight.
Kanat Islam, born in China in a family of ethnic Kazakhs moved to his historical homeland in 2010. He won a bronze medal at the Peking Olympics and the World Championship in Chicago. Later, Islam, 29, became the captain of the Astana Arlans boxing club in the World Series of Boxing. He started his professional career in 2012. Currently, Islam is training in Pahokee, Florida.
