Boxing: American boxer intends to KO Kazakhstan's Golovkin
28-y.o. American boxer Curtis Stevens believes that he is capable of KOing the current WBA and IBO champion Gennady Golovkin from Kazakhstan known and Trippe G, Vesti.kz reports. In his interview to RingTV Stevens said that he challenged Golovkin: "They're saying that he's the most feared middleweight, but I'm calling him out. People are scared to fight him, but I'm asking to fight him." But he believes that Abel Sanchez, the coach of the Kazakhstan boxer, probably wouldn’t let Gennady fight him: "His coach says I'm not ready. I don't understand how I can't be ready, if I want this fight happen. If it was up to me, I'd fight a champion right now. But the question is, do they want to give me a shot? I'm high risk. Nobody wants to get in there and get hit by me ... But I just have to wait my turn. I'm anxious to get it, but I have to wait. They are the champions, so I have to hope they will give me my shot," Stevens said. "I'm strong, I have a lot of knockouts and I have one-punch knockout power," he continued. If Curtis Stevens (24-3, 17 KO’s) is able to get past his August 3rd opponent Saul Roman (37-9, 31 KO’s) then Stevens could indeed face WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (27-0, 24 KO's) on November 2nd.
