IBF and WBA lightweight champion Bernard Hopkins (55-6-2, KOs 32) implied that he might go down in weight to face Gennady Golovkin (30-0, KOs 27), WBA and IBO middleweight champion from Kazakhstan.

Hopkins, 49, is fighting Russian WBO champion Sergei Kovalev on November 8.

“It is all about better deals. It could be down in weight or it could be in my weight. It could be 167, or it could be a catch-weight with somebody coming up, who knows? Might be four letter word, might be three letter word, who knows? I do not like the four letter word, but the three letter word sounds good,” Hopkins enigmatically hinted at Andrew Ward and Gennady “GGG” Golovkin.

He also said that Golovkin had to prove that he was a great fighter in a fight against Hopkins himself.

Earlier, Hopkins fought against another Kazakhstani Beibut Shumenov (14-2, KOs 9). Hopkins won a by a split decision.

Golovkin’s last fight took place on July 26. GGG TKOed an Aussie boxer Daniel Geale in the third round. After defending his titles against Geale, Golovkin was named the fighter of the month by WBA.
