Kazakhstan basketball team Astana has extended contracts with Gary Johnson and Luka Drca for one more year, Tengrinews.kz reports, citing the team’s press-service. “We are glad that we could keep Gary Johnson in Astana team. The club has made a great scope of work to extend his contract. Gary is the key player for us. He showed his skills both in VTB League and Kazakhstan National League matches. He is a basketball player with a huge potential and he strains every sinew during the matches. We are happy that we have learned to understand each other and managed to keep him for one more season with us,” Valeriy Tikhonenko, Astana Club executive director commented. “As for Luka Drca, he started playing with the team in the middle of the season and didn’t blend in at once. However he showed himself very effective during the season. Take the last match against Khimki: he was one of the leaders of the match. Luka is a highly professional player, and the audience liked him at once. Our club is glad that he will stay with us too,” the Club’s head said. Earlier Serbian Branko Cvetkovic and American Rawle Marshall extended their contracts with Astana Club. The metropolitan Club continues to play in Kazakhstan National League these days. The team is up 1:0 in the final series matches against Barsy team (Atyrau). Astana has finished VTB United League matches recently and has become the seventh in A group of the regular Championship.
