Athletics: Kazakhstan tripple jumper Olga Rypakova keeps winning

Olympic champion Olga Rypakova won the 11th stage of the Diamond League triple jump competition that was held in Lausanne, Switzerland, Tengrinews.kz reports citing Vesti.kz. The 27-y.o. athlete used three attempts out of six and jumped 14.45 m, 14.68 m and 14.56 m whereas her rivals failed to break even her worst 14.45 m result. Ukrain’s Olga Saladukha won the second place with 14.42 meters. Russia’s Tatyana Lebedeva was third (14.39 m). Olga Rypakova also won the first stage with 14.33 m and the 6th stage with 14.71 m. The event consisted of 14 stages. The series began on May 11 in Doha, Qatar and will ended on September 7 in Brussels, Belgium. Only one stage is left. Rypakova's main competitors are Colombian Caterine Ibarguen who won to stages 14.66 m and 14.85 m and Ukraine's Olha Saladukha who also won two stages 14.75 m and 14.40 m. Olga Rypakova has an excellent chance of winning the Diamond League. According to the tournament's rules points from all the stages are summed up, and the final stage generates the double amount of points. Besides, to contest the grand prize an athlete must participate in the final stage. Olga Rypakova is a Kazakhstan track-and-field athlete. Originally a heptathlete, she switched her focus to the long jump and began to compete in the triple jump after 2007. She competed in both jumping events at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and finished fourth in the triple jump with an Asian record of 15.11 meters. Rypakova represented Kazakhstan at the 2007 and 2009 World Championships in Athletics. She reached the world podium for the first time at the 2010 IAAF World Indoor Championships, where she took gold with an Asian indoor record jump of 15.14 m. Olga Rypakova won gold at the 2012 London Olympics with the result of 14.98 meters. Olga Rypakova’s best result in triple jump is 15.25 meters. It was set on September 4, 2010 in Croatia. The 2012 IAAF Diamond League also known as the 2012 Samsung Diamond League is the third edition of the Diamond League, an annual series of fourteen one-day track and field meetings.
