Kazakhstan boxing club the Astana Arlans is planning to replace its legionnaire boxers. Maxwell Amponsah (Ghana), Ishtvan Bernat (Hungary), Milutin Stankovich (Serbia) and Sardor Abdullayev (Uzbekistan) might leave the club, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the club's chief coach Beibut Yeszhanov.
“The final decision will be made after WSB Individual Championship, where Kanat Abutalipov and Yerzhan Mussafirov will take part. The club's management is planning to call a meeting. I think that one legionnaire, Ramzhon Akhmedov from Uzbekistan, will stay,” Yeszhanov said.
Management of the Astana Arlans made the decision because of injuries and unsatisfactory results of the legionnaires in the club.
The Astana Arlans took the second prize in a debut season of WSB Championship after losing 1:4 in the second final match with Paris united. In the last match Abdullayev lost a key fight to Filip Hrgovic. In case of his victory the results would have been balanced and additional points would have been counted brining the Astana Arlans into the lead.
Kanat Abutalipov, 28, from the Astana Arlans won the belt and a pass to the Olympics at the WSB Boxing Championship in Guizhou University in China.
