Kazakhstan boxing team Astana Arlans reached the World Series of Boxing (WSB) semi-finals, Tengrinews.kz reports. Kazakhstan fighters won over Mexico City Guerreros in response quarter-final match. Rafikzhon Sultonov from Astana Arlans fought against Braulio Avila Juarez from Mexico City Guerreros in the lightest weight category. The match was quite dirty. There were many clinches between the boxers; however the Mexican fighter was more successful in his rare attacks. Judges awarded him with a victory with the score of 49:46. Kazakhstan 61-kilogram weight league boxer Samat Bashenov fought against Khurshid Tozhibayev, an Uzbek legionnaire of the Mexican team. Astana Arlans boxer tried to attack and dominate over his rival, however, Uzbek boxer defended skillfully and counterattacked correctly. He gathered more points after 5 rounds and won 49:46. One of the strongest Kazakhstan boxers Kanat Islam fought against Bulgarian Mladen Manev (73-kilogram weight league) in the third match of the tournament. Islam gripped the lead during the whole fight and was awarded with a well-deserved victory by a unanimous consent of judges. Algerian legionnaire Abdelhafid Benchabla who is caped for Astana Arlans in 91-kilogram weight league fought against Mexican Javier Ortega. Benchabla dominated the ring as well and won by to the results of all the five rounds. However, the score was even 2:2. The situation with Astana match, when Mexico City Guerreros team failed to put forth a boxer for the fight (because of his injuries) against Ruslan Myrsatayev repeated once again in the quarter-finals. Mexican team failed to prepare the boxer for the fight against Ishtvan Bernat and the judges awarded Astana Arlans with the victory in quarter-finals. In the sixth match that didn’t play a significant role, Kazakhstan boxer Miras Bairkhanov won over Juan Mercado in 73 kilograms weight league match. Moscow Dinamo will become the Kazakhstan team’s next rival.
