In the 4th season of the WSB, the Astana Arlans have released their homegrown talent to challenge the veterans. The match between the Astana Arlans, WSB Champions in 2013 and the “super-power-to-be” - the Russian Boxing Team - is taking place in St. Petersburg on November 23, reports Tengrinews. According to the Head Coach of the Alpha Wolves (Astana Arlans) Sergey Korchinsky, the boxers who will go against the Russian Boxing Team are: Olzhas Sattibaev (-52 kg), Samat Bashenov (-60 kg), Meirim Nursultanov (-69 kg), Danabek Suzhanov (-81 kg) and Filip Hrgovic (+91 kg). If there are no changes in the Russian Boxing Team squat, then a debutant from the Astana Arlans Olzhas Sattibaev will fight against the 2011 World Champion Misha Aloyan (1WP). The trustworthy Captain of the Wolves Samat Bashenov (5WP) will “cross gloves” with an orthodox Russian boxer Adlan Abdurashidov (7WP/2TKO/1TD). Despite a loss in the 2013 final bout, Bashenov, 25 displayed admirable tenacity against Vasyl Lomachenko, the 2012 Olympic gold medal winner. This year, the Captain, once again, may lead his Wolves into a victorious season. Another of the Arlan’s “new boys” Meirim Nursultanov will challenge a more experienced Russian Aleksandr Ivanov (2WP/1TKO). An orthodox Kazakh Danabek Suzhanov will meet a Russian Light Heavyweight Dmitry Bivol (1WP). Suzhanov was in the Astana Arlans in the 3rd season but its going to be his first fight this season. This year, the Astana Arlans are playing a high stake game with the debutants; it might be that the Wolves have “an ace in a hole”. The Arlan’s young veteran, Croatian Super heavyweight Filip Hrgovic, 21 will fight against a Russian debutant Sergei Kuzmin, 26. Hrgovic who signed up with the Astana Arlans for another season has 12 wins on points and 3 TKOs in his WSB record. That said, Kuzmin might still stand against an experienced Croatian and show his worth. “Are we now seeing the emergence of a new WSB super-power?” asks a WSB reporter after the Russian Boxing Team defeated Polish Hussars (5-0). The answer will be clear on November 23 at the match between the Astana Arlans from Kazakhstan and the Russian Boxing Team. The “Group of Death” match promises to be an interesting one with debutants fighting against veterans. The Astana Arlans have defeated the Baku Fires in their first match of the 4th Season of WSB.
