Almaty to host Asian Pool Championship

Annual Asian Open Pool Championship in Pyramid Pool category will be held in Almaty from June 30 to July 3, Tengrinews.kz reports citing press-service of Kazakhstan Billiards Federation. Over 60 sportsmen from 19 countries (including Germany, Russia, Ukraine and Kyrgyzstan) will try to win a $20-thousand prize pool of the 10th Asian Championship. Kazakhstan will be represented by a triple World Champion and Asian Champion Kanubek Sagyndykov, World and Asia Champion Alikhan Karaneyev, World Champion and Silver-winner of the Asian Championship Auez Yelyubayev and incumbent World Champion Yernar Chimbayev. Their main competitors will be Aleksandr Palamar from Ukrain, Kanybek Sagynbayev from Kyrgyzstan and last-year winner of the Championship Andrey Freize from Russia. The winner of the 10th anniversary Championship will receive $5,000, while the second prizewinner will get $2,000. The total of 16 people will receive monetary prizes. One of the main candidates, Kanubek Sagyndykov, recently won the prize in another sport: poker. He became one of the six winners of Kazakhstan's biggest poker series with a prize pool of $250 thousand and won $30 thousand.
