2 Kazakhstani girls reach Wimbledon's fourth round

Kazakh tennis players Zarina Diyas and Yaroslava Shvedova have made it to the fourth round of the Wimbledon, Tengrinews reports citing Vesti.kz.

In the match of the third Grand Slam series tournament Zarina Diyas beat Vera Zvonareva with a score 7:6 (7:1), 3:6, 6:3.

The Kazakh was playing with Romanian Simona Halep in the quarterfinals, the highest remaining seed on the tournament after the defeats of Na Li and Serena Williams.

It is the first time in her career that Zarina Diyas reaches the fourth round of a Grand Slam tournament. She reached the third round for the first time in her career at this year's Australian Open, but lost to Simona Halep. At the Roland Garros Zarina lost to the fifth seed Petra Kvitova in the first round.

At this year's Wimbledon Zarina Diyas beat Kristina Mladenovic of France in the first round, and knocked out the 15th-ranked Carla Suarez Navarro of Spain in the second.
