17-year-old Kazakh weightlifter becomes world champion

Kazakhstan’s weightlifter Tatyana Kapustina has hauled the gold medal of the +69 weight category at the International Weightlifting Federation World Youth Championship in Lima, Peru, Tengrinews reports citing Vesti.kz.

Kazakhstan’s weightlifter Tatyana Kapustina has hauled the gold medal of the +69 weight category at the International Weightlifting Federation World Youth Championship in Lima, Peru, Tengrinews reports citing Vesti.kz.

The championship was held on April 8-12. More than 200 young athletes from different parts of the world took part in the competition.

17-year-old Tatyana Kapustina lifted 110 kg in the snatch exercise and 133 in the clean and jerk, thus scoring 243 kilograms in total.

It was the second gold for Kazakhstan’s team. Earlier, Kazakh weightlifter Igor Son became the world champion in the under 50 kg weight league by lifting 208 kg in total (92+116).

Chingiz Sagyndykov, who competed in 85 kg weight category, won the silver medal lifting 299 kg (132+167). 

17-year-old Aigerim Aulbek won the silver medal of the 58 kg weight category. She lifted 85 kg in the snatch and then, in the clean and jerk Aulbek's result was 107 kg. This brought her to the second place.
