Tengrinews.kz - 16-year-old athlete from Semey Daniil Poslov set a record for Kazakhstan in the deadlift discipline, lifting 295 kilograms (among juniors). In an interview with Tengrinews.kz, the athlete spoke about a childhood trauma, revealed the secret of his success and shared his emotions after setting the record.

Young people in Kazakhstan are increasingly finding an outlet in sports and dedicating their lives to achieving heights in various disciplines. One of them was athlete Daniil Poslov, who celebrated his 17th birthday after winning the tournament.

Despite his young age, his height reaches 183 centimeters, and his weight is at 113 kilograms. This is due to the young athlete's passion - he is a professional powerlifter.

The athlete liked to lift weights since childhood, he did it even just while walking in the yard. And when he met his future coach and learned about his athletic achievements, he became even more eager to train. Inspired by his example, Daniil began his journey in sports.

"I started doing sports when I was 8 years old. For the first four and a half years I did weightlifting, but then I got a serious arm injury and had to change sports. My future coach Yakov Berkh suggested that I try powerlifting in his gym, and I happily agreed," Daniil said about the beginning of his journey.

At his last competition, Daniil took part in the Kazakhstan Championship in strength sports. At this tournament, the 17-year-old athlete earned 2 gold medals in the deadlift and bench press disciplines in his age group, as well as awards in the absolute age category. But the most important achievement for the athlete was another one. In this competition, Daniil Poslov lifted a weight of 295 kilograms in the deadlift discipline and set a Kazakhstan record in the under-16 category.

The athlete also mentioned that for his achievements he received several cash certificates for a total of 22 thousand tenge, as well as discount cards to a sports shoe store and a travel company.

"When I lifted the record weight, I felt an incredible surge of vivacity and energy. I knew that we were setting a Kazakhstan record, and I was mentally prepared for this challenge. Lifting this weight was a real achievement for me. I experienced a real surge of feelings on the way home and when returning to the city. Many guys from school came up and congratulated me on my success. It was nice to hear," the athlete shared his emotions from the record.

After lifting such a weight, Daniil tried to go higher and lift 300 kilograms. The Kazakhstani replied that he had never lifted such a large weight before. When asked about his personal record, Daniil said that he lifted 290 kilograms during training, but did it with special auxiliary rubber bands.

At the age of 17, the resident of Semey is a master of sports in the disciplines of "bench press" and "deadlift". Daniil earned his titles at the Asian Championship in Almaty in May 2024 and considers these achievements to be among the most significant. In a conversation with our editorial staff, the athlete told how he achieved his success and revealed his future plans.

"In order to achieve high results, it is important to follow a strict regimen, eat right, have a well-designed training plan and follow the coach's instructions. It is equally important for me to combine sports with study. Time must be effectively distributed between training and study, so as not to sag anywhere. I train three times a week for 4-5 hours."

- What are your future plans in your sports career?

"In the future, I plan to continue doing sports and popularizing powerlifting among young people to motivate kids to do sports. My coach has been a source of inspiration for me since childhood, and I want to become an example for the younger generation. I also plan to achieve the standards of an international master of sports in powerlifting at the Asian Championship in May 2025, as well as at competitions in other federations," Daniil said about his sports future.

One of the athlete's main motivators is his coach Yakov Berkh. Daniil notes that the coach always supports the record holder and helps him achieve results.

"My coach always motivates me well and sets me up for approaches. He always says: ‘This weight is easy for you. You can handle it.’ This helps me work confidently during training. The coach's support gives me an additional surge of energy, and thanks to this, I can achieve such results," the athlete said about the coach's influence on his success.
