15 sportsmen will represent Kazakhstan at track and field athletics World Championship that will start on August 27 in South Korean Daegu and will last till September 4, Tengrinews.kz reports, citing Vyacheslav Sokirko, the national team’s head coach. “We put our hopes in our leaders – Dmitry Karpov in decathlon and Olga Rypakova in triple jump. Also Marina Aitova can perform well in high jump. Besides, we reckon on our women team that they will be among the best 16 in four hundred meter race,” Sokirko said. Except the women relay team all the other members of Kazakhstan teams that will compete in Korea have already won spots in the 2012 Olympic Games in London. According to Sokirko, other Kazakhstan sportsmen still have a chance to qualify for the Olympics. In general the coaches of the team expect 20 spots. Kazakhstan sportsmen will travel to Daegu on August 25 from Almaty, where the team is training now.
