Nursultan Nazarbayev and Dmitry Medvedev have discussed a Kazakh-Russian joint action plan for 2011-2012, Tengrinews.kz reports referring to Kazakhstan’s presidential pres-service. Their meeting took place in Medvedev's Moscow-area residence Gorki-9. In his welcoming speech Russian president expressed hope that the year will be successful for both countries. “Our relationships are long-dated and stable. We are cooperating in the Customs Union, jointly laying the foundation of the Eurasian Economic Union: this is a qualitative step forwards in terms of integration,” Dmitry Medvedev said. “For the first time in 20 years after the disintegration of the USSR we have managed to create a successful integration association: the Customs Union. This year we are removing all the customs clearance points from the internal borders and moving them to the outer borders of the Union. There are no problems between Kazakhstan and Russia,” Nursultan Nazarbayev is quoted by his press-service as saying. Discussing the Customs Union and the Common Economic Space Dmitry Medvedev said addressing Nursultan Nazarbayev: “Integration is a mean to improve the lives of our citizens and you have always consistently supported the integration ideas and have done a lot to make them come true.” Kazakh and Russian leaders discussed cooperation in transportation of oil and gas, development of the Caspian Sea shelf, nuclear atomic energy and electric power industry, transit and transport, space and industrial innovations. Nursultan Nazarbayev and Dmitry Medvedev also discussed implementation of the Kazakh-Russian Joint Action Plan for 2011-2012. They discussed construction of Western Europe – Western China trunk highway, joint use of Baikonur space center, future of Kazakh-Russian launch pad Baiterek, construction and launch of KazSat-2 satellite, joint use of GLONASS global navigation satellite system, operation of the joint venture fund established to develop nanotechnologies, Kazakh presidential press-service reported.
