Two years ago, the 34-year-old man reportedly attended a wedding in Tajikistan where he assaulted another guest during a conflict. The victim succumbed to their injuries.
The suspect had been under probationary supervision but left Tajikistan in 2023. In November this year, he was placed on an international wanted list. Astana police located and detained him in a shopping center in Kazakhstan’s capital.
"The detainee is currently being held in a temporary detention facility, where he will remain until a decision on extradition is made. He will then be handed over to Tajikistan’s criminal investigation authorities," the police department's press service stated.
Earlier, the NSC extradited a Kazakh citizen suspected of terrorism from Turkey.
