Tengrinews.kz - Kyrgyz authorities have dismantled an international drug trafficking group involved in the transportation and distribution of large quantities of synthetic drugs, according to 24.kg.

According to the press center of Kyrgyzstan's State Committee for National Security, the group transported and distributed narcotics along the route Russia - Kazakhstan - Kyrgyzstan.

"In November 2024, during a series of investigative operations in Bishkek and the Chuy region, nine Kyrgyz nationals were detained. They conducted their illegal activities through an online store. Searches revealed 8.7 kilograms of mephedrone, clefedrone, and 'bath salts,' valued at 52.2 million soms (approximately 315 million tenge)," the committee stated.

The investigation also led to the arrest of additional suspects accused of collecting drug-related debts and punishing couriers with physical violence for failing to comply with the instructions of the network's organizers. All suspects are currently being held in pre-trial detention.

Further investigative efforts are underway to identify other participants in the drug trafficking network.

Previously, special forces uncovered a large drug trafficking ring in Astana.
