US-sponsored bike-stand to appear in Karaganda

The first public bike-stand will appear in Karaganda. It will be set next to City Mall shopping center, Tengrinews.kz reports, citing AVALON historical and geographical society. The bike-stand will open up on April 30. The project is funded by the US State Department. “The stand is a pilot project. It will be the first step towards creating a bicycle infrastructure in Karaganda,” the message read. Initiators of the project believe that the first bike-stand will help resolve Karaganda transport problems. Also it will help increase the number of people riding bicycles in Karaganda and promote healthy lifestyle. US Embassy in Kazakhstan and representatives of Karaganda bicycle association will take part in the official opening of the stand.
