A new Ferris wheel in the reconstructed metropolitan park in Astana will be as tall as an 18-storey building, Tengrinews reports citing the city’s public utilities department.

"Installation of the Ferris wheel is the third phase of the metropolitan park’s reconstruction. At this point, we only know that the diameter of the wheel will make 55 meters. Country of origin, costs, number of seats and other specifications will be available only after GosExpertiza national company examines the project and makes a positive statement on it. This is expected to happen before the end of Q3 2014," the department told Tengrinews.

This year, the 190-hectares city park in Astana is going through a substantial reconstruction. The city's residents used to companied about lack of infrastructure, security, entertainment, walkways and benches in the part. These issues are being addressed. The reconstructed park will have a new Ferris wheel, a 'dry' fountain (water jets come directly from plates on the pavement), the 'river of time' fountain, heated outdoor swimming pool and other nice-looking sites.

The park has been divided into six sections: beach, central avenue, four caves with mosaics inside representing four seasons, 'dry' fountain and Olympians area.

More than $22 million was allocated from the state budget to fund the construction works.
