Kumis Bazarbayeva wins talent competition at Miss Earth 2013

Miss Asiada Kumis Bazarbayeva is representing Kazakhstan at one of the most prestigious international contest Miss Earth 2013 in the Philippines. The contest's traditional preliminary competitions of swimsuit, national dress, evening gown have already taken place, Tengrinews reports. The beauty from Venezuela Alyz Henrich became the winner of the evening gown competition. The winners of the national dresses competition are South Africa's Ashanti Mbanga, Vandia Sands from Bahamas, Indonesian Nita Sofiani and Olesya Boslovyak of Russia. The 2nd place went to the Russian beauty Olesya Boslovyak and the 3rd place went to Chinese Lisa Xiang. Kumis graduated from the Music School for Gifted Children and then from the Kazakh National Conservatory and the Royal Northern Music College in Manchester. She performed at the festival The Art of the 21th Century held on the Portuguese island of Madeira in 2012. She sang four arias in different languages and won the first place. Photo courtesy of missearth.tv The Miss Earth is differ from other beauty pageants with its strong emphasis on environmental protection programs, Miss Earth also aims to showcase and promote various tourist destinations. Every year, 80 to 90 candidates from all over the world compete on beauty and knowledge of environmental issues. The jury evaluates not only the appearance of the participants but their ecological program as well. The reigning title holders dedicate their year to promote specific projects and often address issues concerning the environment and other global issues through school tours, tree planting activities, street campaigns, coastal clean ups, speaking engagements, shopping mall tours, media guesting, environmental fair, storytelling programs, eco-fashion shows, and other environmental activities. Tereza Fajksova of the Czech Republic is the current Miss Earth title holder who was crowned on November 24, 2012. Tereza will hand the crown to the next Miss Earth title holder during the final show on December 7 at the Versailles Palace of Muntinlupa City, Philippines. Margarita Kravtsova is the most successful participant so far who represented Kazakhstan at the contest. She won the runner-up of Miss Earth title in 2001.
