Kazakhstan residents get 3 days off for Astana Day
Kazakhstan residents will have 3 days off for Astana Day, Tengrinews.kz reports citing Zhanar Kolbacheva, director of Baiterek media group working on preparation and holding the the 15th anniversary of Astana. “Officially the Astana Day is on July 6. As this day is Saturday this year, the day off will be moved to July 8th. So officially we have days off on July 6, 7 and 8,” Kolbacheva said at the briefing in the Central Communications Service. The three holiday days will be full of different events. The official celebration of the Astana Day will start on July 4 with hoisting of the flag and will last for 10 days, she said. Kazakhstan President’s Cup and the World Cup tournaments will be held at Kazanat racetrack on July 3-5. Astana Cycling Cup will kick off near Baiterek monument on July 3. Astana-Arkau festival of Turkic music will open the same day. The premier of Tchaikovsky’s Sleeping Beauty ballet will take place at Astana Opera on July 3 as well. Sovremennik Theater’s performances will be staged in the Palace of Peace and Accord on July 4-10. An detailed program of the celebrations is available on the official website of Astana .
