The event was held as part of the Moving Planet global movement. The main goal of the campaign is to improve the climate situation on the planet by transition to eco-friendly vehicles. Participants of the campaign rode around 10 kilometers along streets of their towns. The youngest cyclists along with the oldest ones were awarded after finishing the race. The most fashionable participants were awarded as well. The riders could also participate in a lottery and compete in bicycle tricks contest. Popular DJs, actors, radio presenters, bloggers and other celebrities took part in the Baiga 2.0 event. “The main idea of the event is to unite amateur cyclists of Kazakhstan. They communicate with each other locally, in their own cities and towns. We will help them to unite. And the type of vehicle we have chosen will help our cities breath more freely,” Natalya Tsymbal, Astana event organizer said. Every cyclist willing to take part in the ride was required to register at Baiga official website beforehand. The global ecological campaign Moving Planet took place in 180 countries of the world on Saturday, September, 24. All volunteers spent this day without ecologically harmful vehicles. Participants of the event walked on foot, skurfed, roller-skated, canoed or used other eco-friendly means of transportation.
