Kazakhstan-born model Alena Subbotina, who currently resides in New York, has been preparing a project about Kazakhstan, Tengrinews reports.

Alena was born in Almaty in 1990. She spent her entire childhood in the city of apples (Almaty).

She began her modeling career at the age of 16, but at that time no one expressed much interest to Alena when she walked the podium during the Kazakhstan Fashion Week.

In spite of being upset with her first experience, she did not give up her dream and traveled to New York. There she signed a contract with a prestigious modeling agency. Since then, Alena Subbotina has been taking part in shows of leading brands during fashion weeks in New York, Paris and Barcelona. In 2012, she opened Givenchy show, and got fashion magazines like Vogue Italy and Germany, racing to get her photos. She was the face of MAC cosmetics, collections of Italian Brunello Cucinelli and modeled for the spring-summer collection of Theory.

She now works with the Supreme Management modeling agency.

Alena told in an interview that she had long been dreaming to tell the world about Kazakhstan's youth. "A good friend of mine and an art photographer Daniel King has traveled from New York to Almaty. He is looking for interesting faces. Everyone aged 16-25 is welcomed and you don't need to have a modeling appearance. He has been making projects about different countries and I invited him to Kazakhstan. I wanted to show that Kazakhstan has a very interesting culture and everything here has its own history," she said.

The art project will be presented as a book. Besides, Alena Subbotina plans to organize a photo exhibition in New York.

"We have a lot of beautiful girls and models that can achieve success in modeling career. I am planning to open a modeling agency in Almaty and I want to help them get to the world runways," she said.

Born in Australia, Daniel King is a famous art photographer in the United States. His works were published in Vogue Magazine, Interview Magazine, i-D Magazine, Dazed and Confused, W Magazine, US Elle, Double Magazine.

He made a similar project in Ukraine in 2013. The book was called Ukraine Youth. Between Days.
