16-year-old Innara Yussupova, a Kazakh model from OK-models agency in Astana, has won the Grand Prix at the Face of Central Asia beauty contest held on March 17-20 in Kapchagai town near Almaty, Tengrinews reports. 42 models from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan took part.
The beauty contest was a qualifying round for the Asia Model Awards that is held for the 10th time this year. Participants from more than 16 Asian countries, including Malaysia, South Korea, China, Japan, Thailand, Singapore, Taiwan, will take part in the competition.
This year, Kazakhstan will participate in the contest for the first time. The winner of the Face of Central Asia contest Innara Yussupova and another 13 models were selected to represent Kazakhstan at the Asia Model Awards that will take place in Seoul, South Korea on April 19 - 25.
According to the director of the OK-models agency Olga Kryukova, the qualifying round was held at a high professional level. Events of such kind are rare in our country, she said. "This was not a beauty contest, so we could not predict who would win since the organizers were focusing on trends in the modeling industry. Models that have passed into the final possess interesting features and can work abroad. They have every chance to sign lucrative contracts," she said.
