Color fest held in Astana on Constitution Day
A festival of colors was held in Astana on August 30, the Constitution Day, organizer of the event Ramazan Sultanov told Tengrinews.kz."We decided to dedicate the festival of colors to the Kazakhstan Constitution Day. It lasted for six hours. People could take as much as paint as they wanted and throw it at each other. This is the way to bring some color in their daily routine," Sultanov said.According to the organizer, they got the idea from internet videos of a similar festival held in India. Earlier similar festivals were held in Kokshetau and Petropavlovsk cities of Kazakhstan."The gulal (colored paste) is of natural, biodegradable ingredients harmless to humans, animals and the environment. It is absolutely harmless even if someone swallows it. We brought all the colors of all rainbow for the event. We had to raise money to buy the paints. Our sponsors helped up procure nearly 500 kilograms of the paint of various collors," Sultanov said.Safety of the participants was carefully ensures, no alcohol-containing drinks were sold at the site, drinking was forbidden during the festival and drunk people were not be allowed to take part in the show program. Entrance was free but they charged 800 tenge ($5.25) for the paint. Everybody older than 4 year old were welcome to take part. The event was held at the square in front of Saryarka mall. The festive program also included dancers, singers and contests, the organizer said.By Baubek Konyrov
