Thousands of Almaty residents celebrated the International Children’s Day on June 1 in Almaty’s Central Park (Gorky Park on Gogol street), Tengrinews reports.

Two concerts were held at the same time: one with the participation of Kazakh popular singers and another was a gala concert of the XVII Boztorgay International Children’s Contest.

Almaty’s Vice-Mayor Zauresh Amanzholova, who attended the event, reminded that the International Children’s Day was celebrated for the 66th time in Almaty. “This year school camps will work all three months instead of the usual two. So you will. E able to rest well during the summer, get stronger and continue your studies with renewed energy, please us with your excellent grades, victories and achievements at the olympiads, contests and competitions," she said addressing the children.

Many popular Kazakh singers and even small children performed in front of the big audience. But there was also one little girl Madina, who wanted to demonstrate her talent of standing on her father’s hands. Madiyar Appazov, the girl’s father, said his family did not have any artists or musicians, but they want to develop Madina’s talent further. “We did not teach her, she showed her talent herself. She can stand on the hands since she was one year old. We are thinking about taking our daughter to dance classes,” Madiyar said.

The festivities were held in other parts of the city as well. For example, a charity circus show took place in Almaty’s circus. Festive events were also organized in the State Children's Library named after S.Begalin and in the State Youth Library named after Zhambyl.

Besides, entrance to the Museum of Folk Musical Instruments was free of charge for children under 12 years old. While children under 15 years old could travel in Almaty’s subway for free all day long.
