Pavel Durov announces the opening of an AI laboratory in Kazakhstan

Tengrinews.kz – Pavel Durov, the creator of the social network "VKontakte" and the messaging app Telegram, has announced the opening of an artificial intelligence laboratory in Kazakhstan called Alem AI.

Durov made this announcement during his speech at the plenary session of the Digital Bridge 2025 international forum. He shared that the first project of the new lab will involve collaboration between Telegram and Kazakhstan's supercomputer cluster, launched by the country’s Ministry of Artificial Intelligence.

The project will focus on a new technology at the intersection of artificial intelligence and blockchain. Durov emphasized that the future network would be based on three key principles:

• Transparency, ensured by the TON blockchain.
• Efficiency, achieved through smart contracts and the dynamics of a free market.
• Privacy, made possible by new advancements in chip production.

Durov began his speech in Astana with a lighthearted joke about searching for a wife.
