Kazakhstan residents could see Perseids meteor shower starting from the beginning of August. Its apogee is going to happen on the night of August 12, senior expert of Fessenkov Astrophysical Institute Lyubov Shestakova told Tengrinews.kz. Pieces of a old comet called Perseids enter the Earth’s atmosphere and burn in it leaving a visible trace. “The stream is very wide and it will be seen everywhere when Perseus constellation goes high above the horizon between 2 and 3 a.m. The frequency will be 60 to 70 falls an hour. If their paths are connected they will all meet in the Perseus constellation,” the expert said. She also noted that this event has been seen every year in the last hundreds of years, when the Earth’s path crosses the path of the old comet. Shestakova advised Kazakhstan residents to watch the unusual phenomenon by going outside the city. “You should go far from the city, because the city lights are the main obstructions to seeing it, the Moon does not effect it,” she said.
