Kazakhstan to register new Nurnazen mineral

Kazakhstan is applying to the Commission on New Minerals, Nomenclature and Classification under International Mineralogical Association for registration of a new mineral called Nurnazen, Tengrinews.kz reports citing press-service of Kazakhstan Ministry of Education and Science. “The new mineral consisting of hydrocarbon clasters is one of the new discoveries. It has good perspectives of scientific and practical use for high-tech equipment for medicine and chemistry; the scientists have dedicated it to the 20th anniversary of Kazakhstan's independence and decided to call it Nurnazen,” the message distributed at Kazakhstan Scientists' Forum states. The Forum of Kazakhstan Scientists was held in Almaty on December 1. The main subject of the event was discussion of scientific achievements in Kazakhstan in the last 20 years.
