Tengrinews.kz – Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry has commented on the safety of personal data shared with ChatGPT, amid growing concerns over AI usage.

During a press briefing, Alibek Sailanbayev, Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Artificial Intelligence and Innovation Development, compared ChatGPT to popular messaging platforms.

"You use WhatsApp, right? You also send messages and share information there. ChatGPT is a similar tool, except its servers are located abroad," he said.

Sailanbayev acknowledged the risk of data leakage but emphasized that users have some control over how their information is handled.

"ChatGPT offers a feature in its settings – a button that says ‘Do not use my data.’ If you activate it, your data will not be used to train AI models. Users can easily find and enable this themselves," he noted.

Earlier, it was reported that OpenAI is testing a new "Study Together" feature designed to promote independent learning among students rather than enabling cheating.
